How to Play Token Merge

Token Merge is a number-merging puzzle disguised as a frontier-lab roadmap. Slide tokens together to scale the model up: two equal tokens fuse into one twice as large. The goal is to reach the fabled AGI tile — though, like every lab, you can keep grinding for ASI and beyond.

  1. Swipe or use the arrow keys to slide every token in one direction
  2. When two tokens of equal size collide, they merge and double
  3. Each move ingests a fresh token (a 2, occasionally a 4) into the board
  4. Plan your scaling laws so the board doesn't fill up and stall the run

Scaling Tips

Park your largest token in a corner and build the rest of the stack around it. Commit to one or two primary directions to keep the gradient stable. Big runs come from keeping high tokens adjacent and triggering chain merges in a single sweep.

Compute Note: The doubling never really stops. In theory the board tops out at 131,072 (that's 2^17) — somewhere well past AGI, ASI, and the part of the roadmap nobody fully thought through.
